Summer is here and it’s time to test out the latest and greatest from some of my favourite beauty brands. I’m not sure if it’s the rising temps or the longer days, but I have been more eager to try out fresh scents, bold colours and new skin care lately. Below are my 10 fave new finds for summer. —Vicki Duong
cnd solaroil pen. Get your toes sandal ready with this easy-to-use cuticle oil pen ($18). It conditions and moisturizes your nail beds with jojoba oil and sweet almond oil. The oil comes in a convenient click pen for easy application, plus being able to control the flow of product makes it ideal for on-the-go.
lys beauty matte bronzer. Add a sunkissed glow to your look without compromising sun safety with this certified clean at Sephora bronzer ($24) from LYS Beauty. What makes LYS Beauty unique is that it infuses skin care into its cosmetics. The bronzer features niacinamide to combat shine and green tea extract for an antioxidant boost. I love that the names are meant to inspire; Worthy, Strength, Courage, Harmony and Motivate.
lush lime bounty. Add a sweet touch of moisture to your skin this summer with Lush’s limited-edition body butter, Lime Bounty ($25). A mix of lime and coconut, this body butter adds a serious punch of moisture while adding a summery scent similar to a lime popsicle. Plus, the lotion features coconut oil shaved directly into the jar that looks just like fresh coconut chunks!
charlotte tilbury legendary brows. Get the laminate brow trend look in a snap with the latest and greatest from Charlotte Tilbury, the Legendary Brows Tinted Brow Gel ($30). I love that it offers 10-hour wear plus is moisture-resistant so it’s perfect for sweaty summer days! Plus it comes in four colours for the perfect shade match.
boscia resurfacing lip repair. The days of wearing masks are fewer and farther between and my lips are in dire need of TLC. Lately I’ve been reaching for Boscia Resurfacing Lip Repair ($28) to keep my peckers moisturized. This is more than just a lip balm; it’s a leave-on treatment that leaves your lips nourished and supple, plus AHA gently resurfaces your lips to keep them smooth.
deja vu lip gloss. Beauty guru Julie Vu’s her new beauty brand makes a splash with the debut of lip glosses ($18 each). All of the glosses are vegan, cruelty-free, non-stick and boasting major shine. Available in five shades, there is a colour for every mood, from a striking classic red and versatile clear. My personal fave is Honey Trap, a slightly clear gloss with a touch of honey tint and micro gold reflects.
purlisse bb cream spf 30. While I keep my makeup minimal in the summer, I still like to have a bit of coverage. I love this BB cream ($35) because it works well on oily-combo skin, evens out skin tone and combat redness plus provides SPF 30 protection. It also comes in 11 shades to match a range of tones and undertones.
zo skin exfoliating cleanser. Ideal for summer skin (read: oily, sweaty and clogged pores), this exfoliating cleanser ($58) from ZO Skin is a godsend. It helps keep your pores clear with both physical and chemical exfoliates with biodegradable beds and salicylic acid yet is gentle to use daily! Bonus: vitamin e adds a major hydration boost!
revlon volcanic roller. Keep oily skin at bay while on-the-go with this TikTok fave from Revlon. This viral roller ($20) is made from real volcanic stone that absorbs excess oil. Plus, unlike traditional blotting papers, this roller can be washed and reused!
graydon skincare fullmoon serum. As part of the Thoughtful Choices selection from Shopper’s Drug Mart focused on products that are cruelty-free and mindful of the planet, this serum ($87) from Canadian brand Graydon has become a new fave. I love the ultra-lightweight formula plus adds plumpness and an added layer of protection.
