You spend one-third of your day in bed, so why not invest in making it comfortable? Our fabulous friends at Homebird—purveyors of high-quality home textiles, with a focus on making organic and ethically produced bed and bath linens more accessible—explain the ins and outs of the concept of “cost per use” to help us buy less, buy better and, of course, get the loveliest sleep of our lives! —Vita Daily

what is cost per use? The concept of “cost per use” is quite simple and makes you think of your purchases as an investment. You simply divide the cost of the product by the number of times you expect to use it. We’ve all most likely rationalized a purchasing decision thinking about things this way.
Let’s use a simple example to illustrate: you buy a $100 dress that you expect you will use for three years. Let’s say you wear the dress once every two weeks over those three years (most likely you’ll wear it even less!); that dress costs you $100 / (26 uses x 3 years) = $1.28 per use.
putting cost per use to bed. Let’s use the same logic when it comes to bedding to see if the numbers add up. We’ll use our fitted sheet set to illustrate. Our queen size, fitted sheet set costs $149 (not including the 10 per cent discount for first-time customers that we offer!). Now, looking at this on a cost per use basis, and using three years as an example (of course our bedding is designed to last much longer), the cost per use would be: $149 / 3 years = $0.14 / night!
With the amount of time we spend in bed each day, our linens are among the most used items in our home. Good quality bedding is an investment, but one that is sure to be worth every penny!
a final thought. Homebird products are made with the finest materials, using 100 per cent certified organic and Fairtrade cotton. This means they are a better product for you and are made to last, make a positive impact on our planet by being a more sustainable option, and empower communities less privileged than us.
Homebird offers a risk-free 45-day return policy, so you can try their products and if you’re not in love with them by then, you can return them, no questions asked.

I shoot for 11 but it rarely happens. Living below a two year old who never sleeps an adult who gets up at 3:30 am and a person who believes that the snooze button must be hit a minimum of 10 times means sleep is a lost art for me. 😴
