Did you know that the star-studded Toronto International Film Festival has an official hospitality partner? It’s true, and we can’t think of a more well-suited property than the glittering Shangri-La Toronto.
This year, the hotel will host the festival’s opening party on September 8, in addition to offering exciting TIFF-inspired food and beverage creations and luxurious experiences throughout the month—think a TIFF Afternoon Tea, TIFF film-inspired cocktails, room packages and endless Instagrammable moments in the hotel lobby. The tea, happening on September 1, will feature elevated tiers of reimagined nostalgic Canadian movie snacks, like an original spin on the peanut butter cup and the Mars bar along with honey comb caramel popcorn, fois gras donuts, napoleon of nachos and more. As for drinks, Shangri-La Toronto’s talented bartenders have created a range of movie-inspired cocktails based on their favourite films from this year’s festival—nine unique creations in total, such as The Rosebud, inspired by What’s Love Got To Do With It (starring Lily James, Shazad Latif and Emma Thompson) wherein gin takes the spotlight alongside maraschino liquor and rosewater to set the scene for romance. Screen the entire cocktail menu here.
Adjacent to the hotel, film lovers can also enjoy the Pre-Theatre Mash Up at Momofuku Toronto from September 8 to 18—a $49 appetizer trio that includes corn flatbreads with stracciatella cheese, butter and spiced eggplant; fried Brussels sprouts with puffed rice and fish sauce vinaigrette; and cassava sticks with ginger scallion mayonnaise. We’re definitely ready for our red-carpet moment now. —Vita Daily
